Below are some of the common mixes of Bleach (SH) and Water for different exterior cleaning situations. This is not a definitive list, but simply a starting point. Use the Batch Mix App to help calculate your ratios.
Every surface is different. Please adjust your mixes to meet your specific cleaning situation.
One of the most common surfaces that people want cleaned is vinyl siding. Fortunately, it's one of the easiest to clean.
A light mix at around 1.5% will clean most vinyl surfaces requiring only a rinse to wash away any remaining residue.
A light mix at around 1.5% will clean most gutters. Occasionally the very dirty gutters will require scrubbing with a soft bristle brush.
After cleaning, it is common to see oxidation remaining. This is not dirt, but a naturally occurring process that can cleaned with a product such as Gutter Butter. See manufacturer's instructions for how to use these products.
Stucco surfaces are far less common than other surfaces. Because stucco is porous, dirt, grim and organic matter can penetrate the surface and become difficult to remove. When cleaning stucco, you should start with a light mix and increase strength as needed.
Always do test spots to assure the stucco will not be damaged by your mix.
It's important to let your customer know that thicker build up can take time to die and may require a second treatment a few days later. When placing your bid, take this potential second treatment into account in your price.
Start with a lower strength mix and increase as needed.
First do a "pre-treatment". Pre-treatment is a light application of cleaning solution.
Second, clean with a surface cleaner and rinse.
Third do a "post-treatment". Post treatment is to kill any remaining organic growth that you don't rinse off.
Because you don't rinse it off, it's important to protect any vegetation or other property along the edge of the concrete. If you accidentally get your post treatment on something unintended, rinse it off.
When cleaning brick, you typically are not applying mix to clean the brick and just rinse off like you will with most surfaces. You will typically apply a mix to kill organic material and loosen dirt before cleaning with an appropriate amount of pressure. Start your mix strength light and increase as needed.
